Spirit Journey Q&A:
A: Many cultures and traditions have "shamanic practices."  The form of  journey I do was taught to me by a shaman in Colorado and is found in many cultures.  It basically entails relaxing, grounding, facilitation by drumming through a tunnel and journey to the spirit world for purpose of meeting with the spirit helpers.  Communication is mostly visual, auditory and telepathic.  It is not visualization or dreaming/sleeping.  Our spirit helpers are made just for us and can offer insight that is exceedingly personalized.  Spirit journey is a modality that assists one in accessing the higher self and the parts of ourselves that have been fragmented or repressed.  In my opinion, the essence of journey is that it is a way to contact your unconscious mind.

A: It is a perfect compliment to the journey.  The spirit helpers can offer you information and insight that I cannot know.

A:  I studied with a shaman in Nederland, Colorado.
A: It depends on the culture you are studying.

A: No.  One needs to be quite relaxed to enter journey space, but one is also quite awake and alert and in no way leading the activity of the journey.  It is not like a dream where you feel like an observor either.  To be in the journey one must come from the heart and not the head.

A: I have never doubted the "realness" of my journeys because the insight that I receive from my helpers is so profoundly touching and true.  They have a way of communicating that cuts straight to the heart of things in the language and attitude that I can understand.
